Therapy for OCPD
in Ontario, Manitoba,
and Saskatchewan
At LIV Mental Wellness, we work with people who feel weighed down by rigid standards, perfectionism, and the pressure to get everything right. Our online OCPD therapy sessions are available across Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, making compassionate, accessible care available wherever you are.
You hold yourself to high standards. But sometimes it feels like there’s no room to breathe.
You pride yourself on being responsible, detail-oriented, and thorough — qualities that once helped you succeed. But lately, it feels like those strengths have turned against you, creating stress, frustration, and exhaustion.
You’ve tried working harder, double-checking the details, or taking on everything yourself – but the pressure never really eases. The rules get tighter, the standards get higher, and life feels smaller.
Our goal is to help you move from a life ruled by obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) and rigidity to one grounded in balance, connection, and values that truly matter to you – with holistic therapy support for your mind, body, and relationships.
At LIV Mental Wellness, OCPD therapy supports you in easing rigid patterns, softening perfectionistic thinking, and reconnecting with your values so you can live with more balance, flexibility, and emotional freedom.

The Hidden Weight of OCPD
OCPD isn’t the same as OCD. Instead of intrusive thoughts and compulsions, OCPD is defined by rigid perfectionism, control, and difficulty with flexibility. On the surface, it can look like discipline or responsibility – but inside, it can feel like pressure, tension, or constant dissatisfaction.
Does this sound familiar?
- You spend hours organizing, planning, or editing because it never feels “finished”.
- You feel a constant pressure to avoid mistakes - big or small.
- You feel guilty when you rest, relax, or do something “just for fun.”
- You have strict routines or standards that feel safe but also limiting.
- You replay conversations, wishing you’d said or done things more “perfectly.”
- You find it hard to trust others with tasks, so you end up carrying more than your share.
- You hesitate to make decisions out of fear of making the wrong choice.
- You feel uneasy when plans change or things don’t go exactly as pictured.
If these experiences resonate, know this:
You’re not broken. These patterns often develop as ways of creating safety and stability – and with therapy, they can be understood, softened, and reshaped.

What OCPD Therapy Can Help With
OCPD therapy can address a wide range of themes and patterns, including:
- Perfectionism that leaves you drained or dissatisfied
- Over-responsibility and difficulty trusting others with tasks
- Rigid rules and routines that create structure but leave little room for flexibility
- A persistent fear of making mistakes or being judged harshly
- Loss of spontaneity, joy, creativity, or playfulness
- Pressure to take on more responsibility than feels sustainable
- Relationship patterns shaped by high expectations or criticism
If OCPD is making it hard to feel at ease or connected in your life, therapy for OCPD can help you create space for balance and growth.

Frequently Asked Questions About OCPD Therapy
How is OCPD different from OCD or “being a perfectionist”?
OCPD is not the same thing as OCD. With OCD, people often struggle with intrusive thoughts and rituals. OCPD shows up differently: it’s marked by a need for control, perfectionism, and a strong sense of rules or standards. On the outside it can look like discipline or responsibility – but on the inside, it often feels rigid, exhausting, or isolating.
At LIV, we understand OCPD as more than “being a perfectionist.” These patterns are usually protective. They are ways your nervous system learned to create safety, approval, or stability. The good news is: patterns that were once protective can also be softened, reworked, and lived with more ease. This blog post goes into more detail on the differences (and similarities) between OCPD and OCD
What if perfectionism has helped me succeed - won’t I lose my edge?
Therapy isn’t about changing your strengths – it’s about inviting flexibility into how they’re used. Your reliability, dedication, and detail orientation are part of who you are. Therapy helps shift those strengths from feeling like a burden into something that supports your well-being.
Do I need a formal diagnosis of OCPD to start therapy?
Not at all. A diagnosis can be helpful, but it isn’t required to begin therapy. Many clients seek support because they notice patterns of rigidity or perfectionism that feel limiting.
Can therapy help if OCPD traits have been lifelong?
Yes! OCPD is deeply rooted, but it’s far from permanent. Therapy helps you understand how these patterns formed and gently work toward more ease, connection, and flexibility. Even habits built over decades can soften with support.
Can OCPD and OCD happen together?
Yes, co-occurrence is possible. Research suggests that 15–30% of individuals with OCPD also have OCD. Each can influence the other, but both are treatable, especially with tailored therapy.
