You're holding it all together, but it's getting harder

From the outside, things look fine. You meet your responsibilities, show up for the people who count on you, and handle what needs to be done. But underneath, there’s a heaviness that doesn’t lift. Maybe you’re more irritable than you used to be. Decision-making feels harder. Rest doesn’t actually recharge you anymore.

Many adults in Winnipeg are balancing demanding careers while also managing family responsibilities and trying to maintain their own wellbeing. Whether you’re in River Heights navigating a high-pressure professional role, in Osborne Village managing the stress of early career building, or in St. Boniface juggling caregiving and work, the pattern is similar. You’re functioning. You’re showing up. But you’re not really present.

Not to mention, the long, dark winters in Winnipeg can make all of this harder to manage. Research shows that major depressive episodes in Canada peak during December, January, and February, with rates 70% higher in January compared to August. The reduced daylight and extended cold can intensify existing anxiety, burnout, or low mood.

At LIV Mental Wellness, we work with adults across Winnipeg who are tired of just getting by. Our virtual counselling sessions go deeper than surface-level coping. Through online therapy, you’ll gain tools and insights to calm your mind, reduce anxiety, and reconnect with who you are beneath the stress, creating a steadier, more grounded way of living.

Who We Help in Winnipeg

We specialize in working with adults who look like they have everything together on the outside but feel depleted or overwhelmed underneath. This includes professionals working downtown or in St. Boniface, healthcare workers at HSC or St. Boniface Hospital, educators, students at the University of Manitoba or University of Winnipeg, and anyone who’s used to being the dependable one while quietly struggling.

Common concerns we address include high-functioning anxiety that no one else seems to notice, burnout that vacation time doesn’t fix, perfectionism that drives you harder than you want to go, relationship patterns that feel stuck, and difficulty trusting yourself or your decisions.

If that resonates, you’re in the right place. Therapy at LIV isn’t about learning to cope better with an unsustainable situation. It’s about changing the patterns that make constant coping necessary in the first place.

How We Help

Therapy at LIV Mental Wellness follows a structured, collaborative process.

Most clients move through three main phases:

We start by helping you recognize the patterns that keep you stuck. This includes understanding your nervous system responses, attachment style, and the ways anxiety, perfectionism, or burnout show up in your life.

You’ll learn practical, research-backed tools for regulating your nervous system, challenging unhelpful patterns, and responding to stress in ways that don’t leave you depleted.

Real change happens when new ways of responding become automatic. We work with you until shifts feel sustainable, not like something you have to constantly work to maintain.

Why work with LIV? Because therapy here focuses on both insight and action. We help you understand what’s driving your struggles and give you tools that help you live with more steadiness, self-trust, and intention.

Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy in Winnipeg

Yes. Research consistently shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for treating anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, OCD, and ADHD-related concerns. The quality of the therapeutic relationship and the interventions used matter far more than whether you’re in the same room. Virtual therapy also eliminates barriers like commuting through Winnipeg traffic or finding parking downtown during winter, which can make it easier to show up consistently.

Starting therapy at LIV Mental Wellness is straightforward. You can book a free 20-minute consultation through our online booking system to ask questions and see if we’re the right fit. All sessions happen through secure video (or phone if you prefer), so you can attend from anywhere in Winnipeg.

Absolutely. All sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Your therapist is bound by professional confidentiality standards set by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and other regulatory bodies. The only exceptions to confidentiality are situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, which your therapist will discuss with you during your first session.

Yes. Virtual therapy means you can access care from anywhere in Winnipeg or surrounding areas, whether you’re in Transcona, Charleswood, St. Vital, or further out. As long as you have internet access and a private space for sessions, location within Manitoba isn’t a barrier.

Most extended health plans in Manitoba cover Registered Psychotherapists. If you’re not sure about your coverage, we recommend checking your plan details before starting. After each session, you’ll receive a receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

That’s totally okay, and understandable! That’s exactly why we offer a free 20-minute consultation. It gives you a chance to ask questions, explain what you’re looking for, and get a sense of whether our approach aligns with your needs. There’s no pressure to commit, and if we’re not the right fit, we’ll do our best to point you toward resources that might work better for you.
