Attachment Therapy
in Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan
At LIV Mental Wellness, we offer attachment therapy to help women who feel stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns find clarity, confidence, and emotional security - within themselves and with others. Virtual therapy sessions are available across Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.
You value connection, but instead of feeling secure, you often find yourself worrying, second-guessing, or pulling away.
Maybe you’re the one who worries about being “too much,” who overthinks every message, or who feels anxious when a loved one pulls back. Or maybe closeness feels suffocating, so you keep your guard up and rely mostly on yourself – even when part of you longs for deeper connection.
The truth is: attachment patterns are learned survival strategies. But left unexamined, they can leave you feeling lonely in relationships, unsure of yourself, or caught in exhausting push-pull dynamics.
At LIV Mental Wellness, our goal is to help you move from survival patterns to secure attachment and balanced connection – with others, and with yourself.

How Insecure Attachment Shapes Relationships
Insecure attachment can quietly shape the way you connect with others – leaving you second-guessing your worth, fearing rejection, or pulling away when you want closeness most. Over time, these patterns can make relationships feel confusing, exhausting, or unstable, even with people you care about deeply.
Does this sound familiar?
- You find yourself overanalyzing texts, conversations, or the “tone” of interactions.
- You worry that people will leave, pull away, or lose interest in you.
- You crave constant reassurance, but it never feels like “enough.”
- You avoid conflict or pull away when things get too close.
- You feel like you have to earn love instead of believing you inherently deserve it.
- You sometimes push people away just to avoid the risk of being rejected later.
- Even when things seem “fine,” you still feel unsettled or on edge.
- Arguments or distance in relationships can feel overwhelming, leaving you anxious or withdrawn for days.
If these experiences resonate, know this:
You are not “too much” or “not enough.” You are someone carrying old survival strategies that can be unlearned, with the right support.

Online attachment therapy isn’t about changing who you are – it’s about helping you feel safe, connected, and whole in your relationships.
What Healing Attachment Really Looks Like
In attachment therapy for adults, we explore how your body reacts in relationships. Maybe it’s the tension when you fear someone will leave, the urge to shut down when things get too close, or the people-pleasing that keeps you from naming your own needs. These reactions aren’t flaws. They are survival strategies that once helped you cope.
Over time, attachment-based therapy helps you:
Notice old relationship patterns as they happen, instead of being swept up by them
Practice new responses, with support, until they feel natural
Build confidence in your ability to self-soothe when anxiety rises
Strengthen trust in yourself and others, step by step
Research shows that attachment styles can shift in adulthood. With the right support, you can move toward a secure attachment style. Over time, therapy helps you build healthy, secure attachments in your adult relationships.
This is the heart of healing attachment issues: creating relationships where you feel both safe and free.

Frequently Asked Questions About Attachment Therapy
Can my attachment style really change in adulthood?
Yes. While attachment patterns most often begin in early childhood, research shows they can shift into something called “earned secure attachment” with support, insight, and new relational experiences. At LIV Mental Wellness, we use a combination of neuroscience, nervous system regulation, and relational approaches to help you feel safer in your own body and within relationships. Over time, you’ll begin to trust your needs, set boundaries with more ease, and experience closeness without the fear of losing yourself.
Do I need to know my “attachment style” before starting therapy?
Not at all. You don’t need to label yourself to benefit from therapy. Some people resonate with terms like “anxious attachment” or “avoidant attachment,” while others simply know that relationships feel harder than they should. Our role is to help you make sense of your patterns without judgment, and to support you in building more secure, grounded ways of connecting – regardless of what your “attachment style” is.
Is attachment therapy the same as couples counselling?
No. At LIV Mental Wellness, we focus on individual therapy for attachment concerns. While couples counselling addresses relationship issues between two people, attachment therapy helps you understand and heal the patterns you carry into relationships. This work often leads to more secure, balanced connections – whether you’re partnered or not.
Can attachment therapy help with friendships and family relationships, too?
Yes. Attachment patterns affect all kinds of connections, not just romantic ones. Therapy can help you navigate dynamics with friends, coworkers, and family members, especially if you find yourself people-pleasing, over-giving, or avoiding closeness. Healing these patterns can improve every part of your relational world.
What if my struggles with relationships come from both trauma and attachment wounds?
That’s very common. Early experiences, trauma, and attachment patterns often overlap and influence how you show up in relationships.
At LIV Mental Wellness, our approach doesn’t separate these into boxes – instead, we use trauma-informed, attachment-focused therapy to support both. Whether your challenges come from painful past experiences, inconsistent caregiving, or nervous system sensitivity, we’ll work together to help you feel safer, more secure, and more confident in your connections.
What if I'm not sure that this is the right fit for me?
That’s completely okay. We offer a complimentary, no-pressure meet & greet so you can ask questions and see if working with our team feels like the right fit for you.
